1. What the Service does
easyfamilyfilter is an adult-managed family internet filtering service and caregiver dashboard. An adult account holder creates a household, adds family members and devices, installs DNS settings or a configuration profile, and selects family- or device-level website, category, and Safe Search settings. Configured devices send DNS requests to the Service so that we can apply those settings and show DNS-level activity and family analytics.
The Service does not ordinarily inspect the contents of web pages, messages, files, passwords, or activity inside an encrypted website or app. It is a DNS-level tool, not comprehensive device-monitoring, antivirus, endpoint-security, or emergency-service software.
2. Eligibility, accounts, and authority
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter this agreement, and a parent, legal guardian, or other adult legally authorized to manage the household. The Service is not offered for a child to create or administer an account.
The consumer Service is currently offered only to United States residents for devices used primarily in the United States. Temporary travel does not by itself make an otherwise eligible account ineligible, but availability while traveling is not guaranteed. You may not enroll from another country or use the Service primarily outside the United States without our written approval.
For each account and device, you represent and agree that:
- The information you provide is accurate and you will keep it up to date.
- You own or control the device, or have the device owner’s informed permission to configure it.
- You have authority to act for each child identified in the account and will provide any legally required notices and obtain any legally required permissions from other parents, guardians, adult household members, guests, and users of shared devices.
- You will not configure another person’s device for covert or unauthorized monitoring.
- You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity conducted through your account.
The consumer Service is intended for households. Schools, employers, landlords, care facilities, and other organizations may not use it to monitor students, employees, tenants, patients, or other people unless FAIM has approved that use in a separate written agreement.
3. Family data and parental consent
The Service processes DNS and device information from configured family devices, including devices used by children. You authorize us to collect, use, retain, and disclose that information as described in our Privacy Policy for the purpose of providing, securing, supporting, and improving the Service you request.
Where a child’s information is involved, we may require direct notice, parental verification, and consent before collection begins. Your contractual promise that you have authority does not replace any verification or consent procedure we are required to perform. You may withdraw consent as described in the Privacy Policy, but doing so may require us to stop the Service for the affected device and require you to remove its DNS configuration.
4. Filtering has important limits
DNS filtering is inherently incomplete. A destination may be misclassified, newly created, reached through a cached response, direct network address, VPN, alternate DNS service, encrypted relay, device feature, app design, or another method outside the Service’s visibility or control. The Service may fail to block material you intended to block (underblocking) or block material you intended to allow (overblocking).
We do not promise that harmful, illegal, objectionable, or age-inappropriate material will be inaccessible; that desired material will remain accessible; or that Safe Search will work with every search engine, account, app, browser, device, or network. DNS caching and upstream changes can delay when a saved rule appears to take effect. During certain failures, maintenance, or degraded operation, default or fallback filtering may differ from the household settings shown in the dashboard.
You are responsible for reviewing settings, testing devices, maintaining appropriate exceptions, keeping device software current, and providing age-appropriate supervision. The Service is one tool; it is not a substitute for parental involvement, security software, professional advice, or emergency services.
5. Activity and analytics are estimates
Activity, category labels, protection notices, likely-activity signals, weekly reports, and longer-term family insights are based on DNS requests received by the Service. DNS requests can be produced by background syncing, notifications, advertising, operating-system services, shared devices, browser retries, and other technical activity. Records can be delayed, duplicated, grouped, misclassified, incomplete, or missing.
The Service does not establish who held a device, a person’s intent, attention, exact screen time, what occurred inside an app, the content actually viewed, or whether a person experienced harm. Assigning a device to a family member does not prove that person made every request from it. You agree to use dashboard information with appropriate judgment and not as conclusive evidence about any person.
6. Connectivity and safety-critical use
The Service depends on a functioning DNS configuration. Outages, maintenance, misconfiguration, nonpayment, cancellation, suspension, termination, deletion of an account or device, or a third-party change can interrupt name resolution while the easyfamilyfilter setting or profile remains installed. Websites, apps, internet-based calling and messaging, smart-home functions, security systems, and other online services may then appear offline or stop working until the configuration is removed, disabled, or replaced.
You agree to:
- Keep administrator access and removal instructions for every configured device.
- Maintain another way to access essential communications and services.
- Not rely on the Service for emergency, medical, alarm, life-safety, assistive, or other safety-critical communications.
- Remove or replace the configuration before a paid period ends, deleting an account or device, transferring a device, or allowing a different person to become its primary user.
7. Subscription, billing, and cancellation
The Service is currently offered for $19.95 USD per household per month, plus applicable taxes. The subscription automatically renews each month until canceled. Stripe processes payments. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your selected payment method.
You may cancel through the billing portal. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. Except where required by law, charges are nonrefundable and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods. We may change pricing or plan features with at least 30 days’ notice, effective on a future renewal.
If payment fails, the Service may remain active during a limited grace period. If payment is not resolved, we may suspend dashboard access, filtering, or device routing and later terminate the account. A device whose configuration remains installed may lose DNS resolution during suspension or after termination. Restoring payment may not restore connectivity immediately. You remain responsible for removing or replacing the configuration on each device.
8. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the Service for unlawful monitoring, stalking, harassment, coercion, surveillance, or to violate another person’s privacy or other rights.
- Install a configuration or access a household without authorization.
- Probe, overload, disrupt, damage, reverse engineer, bypass, or exploit the Service or another user’s account, except where a restriction is prohibited by law.
- Use automated means to scrape the Service, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person, or submit false authority or consent information.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the consumer Service without our written permission.
9. Third-party services and changes
The Service depends on internet providers, hosting and database services, DNS infrastructure, domain lists and classifications, authentication and payment providers, device manufacturers, operating systems, browsers, app developers, and other third parties. Their outages, errors, restrictions, changes, or discontinuation may affect filtering, setup, billing, the dashboard, activity records, or device connectivity. We do not control those third parties.
We may maintain, update, add, remove, or discontinue Service features and supported platforms. We will use reasonable efforts to give notice of a material discontinuation when practicable. No service-level commitment applies unless FAIM signs a separate written agreement that expressly provides one.
10. Ownership and feedback
FAIM and its licensors own the Service, including its software, designs, documentation, branding, classifications, and other content, subject to applicable intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to use the Service for your household while your account is authorized under these Terms.
You retain your rights in information you provide. You grant FAIM the rights reasonably necessary to host, process, transmit, and display it to provide the Service. If you voluntarily provide feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to adult account holders and parents. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
12. Warranty disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” FAIM disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, complete, accurate, or compatible with every device or network, or that it will block or record every destination.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In those jurisdictions, these exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FAIM and its members, managers, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of use, data, opportunity, reputation, or internet connectivity, arising from or related to the Service.
This exclusion includes claims arising from outages; connectivity loss; overblocking or underblocking; inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or missing activity; reliance on analytics; failure to remove or replace a device configuration; unauthorized device configuration; or third-party services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FAIM’s aggregate liability arising from or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) $100 or (b) the amount you paid FAIM for the Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold the FAIM parties harmless from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from: (a) configuring or monitoring a device without required authority, notice, or consent; (b) your unlawful or prohibited use of the Service; or (c) your material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from FAIM’s negligence, willful misconduct, or violation of law. We will provide reasonable notice of a covered claim and may control its defense.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access immediately for a material breach, fraud, unlawful use, security risk, nonpayment after any grace period, legal requirement, or conduct likely to harm the Service or another person. When reasonably practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to cure. We may end the Service without cause on at least 30 days’ notice.
When service ends, your license and dashboard access end. Suspension, cancellation, deletion, or termination does not remotely remove DNS settings or configuration profiles from your devices. You must remove or replace those settings to avoid connectivity loss. Data is retained or deleted as described in the Privacy Policy; cancellation by itself is not an account-deletion request.
Provisions concerning ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, disputes, and amounts owed survive termination.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice by email, in the Service, or another appropriate method. If required by law or if a change materially affects children’s data, arbitration, or device-connectivity risk, we may ask you to affirmatively accept it. Your continued use after the stated effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
17. Disputes, arbitration, and Utah law
Informal resolution. Before starting arbitration or a lawsuit, either party must send a written notice describing the dispute and requested relief. The parties will try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days. Send notices to [email protected] with the subject “Legal dispute notice.”
Individual arbitration. Except for the exceptions below, a dispute arising from these Terms or the Service that is not resolved informally will be decided by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. A hearing may be conducted remotely unless the arbitrator determines an in-person hearing is appropriate. Arbitration fees will be allocated under the applicable rules and law.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an eligible individual claim in small-claims court. Either party may seek urgent injunctive relief in court to protect account security, confidential information, or intellectual-property rights. Nothing prevents you from reporting an issue to a government agency.
Arbitration and court proceedings must be conducted only on an individual basis. You and FAIM waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class, collective, coordinated, consolidated, mass, or representative action to the extent permitted by law.
30-day opt-out. You may opt out of arbitration without affecting the rest of these Terms by emailing [email protected] within 30 days after you first accept these Terms. Include your account email and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. An opt-out applies only to you and only to these Terms.
Governing law and courts. Utah law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs arbitration. For disputes not required to be arbitrated, the parties consent to the state and federal courts in Utah. This choice does not remove any mandatory consumer protection of your place of residence that cannot lawfully be waived.
If applicable law prohibits a part of this section, that part will not apply to the affected dispute. If the individual-only requirement is unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim must proceed in court and not in arbitration.
18. General terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and FAIM about the consumer Service and supersede prior discussions on that subject. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. FAIM is not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
