Choosing parental controls

DNS filtering vs. screen-time and monitoring apps

Parental-control products can solve very different problems. DNS filtering focuses on online destinations. Screen-time tools measure or limit device use. Monitoring apps may collect deeper activity from a device.

DNS filtering

  • Blocks selected website and service domains
  • Works across many browsers and apps
  • Can follow a configured device between networks
  • Does not read messages or inspect page content

Screen-time controls

  • Measure or limit time in apps
  • May schedule downtime or app limits
  • Are often built into the operating system
  • Do not necessarily filter harmful websites

Monitoring apps

  • May collect messages, searches, screenshots, or app activity
  • Usually require installed software and broad device permissions
  • Can provide deeper visibility with a larger privacy tradeoff

A different family philosophy

Easy Family Filter is designed for families who want protection and useful awareness without turning every device into a surveillance surface. It offers less content-level visibility than an invasive monitoring app, but much more privacy and a lower setup burden.
